Drive tools, smarter and more flexible than before
The new drive replacement feature is one of the most important and practical features that important network equipment such as servers and storage devices should have. When a drive is to be replaced, DSM handles the transfer process without destroying the storage pool. The auto-repair feature also allows for easier remote NAS management. When a drive needs to be replaced, all you have to do is replace the new drive with the failed one. Once this process is done, DSM will immediately start the rebuild process. SSD solid state drive is also a unique way to increase performance. DSM 7.0 now allows users to add or remove this memory whenever they need. With Secure Sign In, it is possible to remove passwords and send and confirm login requests directly from smartphones.
In addition, Secure Sign In can also be used as a secondary authentication method in two-factor mode. As a result, the problem of copying one-time passwords is solved and the safety of the storage is increased. Additionally, FIDO2 has been added to the new operating system to provide a secure authentication method that can be used with USB hardware security keys, Windows Hello, and macOS Touch ID. Interestingly, FIDO2 has the ability to replace passwords or can be used in combination with other security patterns.
Building on the capabilities of Synology C2, a new data protection solution is provided that enables backup directly on Synology C2. Support for the Windows and Windows Server family of operating systems, Linux, Mac OS, VMWare, Hyper-V Hypervisors and popular SaaS platforms allows organizations to implement a unified backup mechanism for their IT environments. Interestingly, it is possible to increase the storage capacity to achieve maximum efficiency so that users can perform assigned tasks without problems.
